Where to Shop in Sedona
For such a small town Sedona has some wonderful shopping options, especially Native American arts and crafts, and work by other local artists.
If buying local souvenirs, arts and crafts, and Native American items, is a part of your holiday, then you have to visit Sedona. It has a big concentration of shops and galleries in a small area, which is easy to walk around. The town only has a population of about 10,000 people, and it can sometimes seem that half of them are artists.
Sedona Arts Center
There are some excellent artists in Sedona, and some of their paintings of the red rocks, and the Arizona desert, are beautiful. They range from the subtle to the dramatic, to appeal to all tastes. Take a look at the Sedona Arts Center, which has the largest collection in town, including jewelry, photography, paintings, ceramics, and sculptures. There are changing exhibitions and regular visits by artists displaying their skills in the galleries, and you can also learn skills in arts and crafts at their many workshops.
Hillside Sedona
Hillside Sedona is a collection of several galleries and restaurants, as well as specialty shops. In addition to the arts and crafts shops, there are others selling such items as rugs, shoes, minerals, fossils, and gourmet foods.
Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village
The Tlaquepaque Arts and Crafts Village has a similar array of shops, galleries, and restaurants. Shops here also sell arts and crafts but also toys, clothing, specialty Christmas creations, candles, and even music boxes.
Frederic Remington
One artist’s name to watch out for is that of Frederic Remington. He was one of the most prominent Wild West Artists of his day, and although he died in 1909 his style still influences modern artists today. His sculptures of cowboys on horses are particularly sought-after, but you can buy modern reproductions and also similar work by contemporary sculptors, which have a definite and distinctive western feel.
